About Us

Euphoria Borealis is an organisation based in Helsinki, Finland, and a community whose main focus is creative and equal filmmaking. We develop, encourage and diversify audiovisual culture both in Finland and internationally. We organise film workshops, screenings, and other events and are always open to new perspectives to film and other audiovisual arts.

COMMUNITY

Euphoria Borealis is an open community for all filmmakers with any experience level. Through us they can meet each other, put their heads together and create something amazing.

EQUALITY

We organize workshops, screenings, and other events where anyone can come and create.

With our Safer Space guidelines we want to make everyone feel welcome.

CREATIVITY

We love alternative methods in film production.

Our events are collaborative, experimental, and based on spontaneous working, which results in wonderful films.

Euphoric Community

Through our philosophy of inclusive filmmaking, we want to give everyone a chance to make films, express themselves and tell their stories. We encourage people to think outside the box and experiment with the art of film.

We find that making films doesn’t necessarily have to be a heavy production. In fact, in our fast-paced Kino Euphoria workshops we have seen amazing art being made with little to no money. This kind of truly independent way of making films can bring out something beautiful, unexpected, fresh and moving.

We follow safer space guidelines in all our events. We are always ready to improve these guidelines and welcome feedback, comments, and questions.

Euphoria Borealis was founded in 2004 and has been working in developing audiovisual culture ever since. We have organized several Kino Kabaret workshops per year in Helsinki as well as other Finnish cities like Rovaniemi and Tampere.

We also have some bigger projects under our belt, including: Young Cinema in Zambia development cooperation project in 2013 and 2014, VR Filmmaking workshop from 2016 and Girls film! film camp for 13 to 17-year-old girls and gender-diverse youth in 2017-2019 (which earned Riitta Ryhtä the Red Carpet Kannustuspalkinto Award in 2018 for her work for equality in the film industry!)

We continue our work with a new board and active members each year. Everyone is welcome to join us!

Love,

The board of 2024: Ari, Hannes, Irini, Jarno, Jennifer, Juha, Nikhil, Sami & Santeri
